Non Public Schools (NPS)
These are schools that service our students through the Special Education Process.
- NPS Site coordinators are responsible for picking up District testing materials no later than the Friday before testing. Materials must be returned by the Friday immediately after the exam.
- Special Education Department is responsible for releasing a current listing of NPS students to the Compensatory Education Department at least a week before testing.
Inventory Day
CompEd staff will visit sites to inventory test materials and prepare them for shipping. Once inventory is complete, the site is responsible for contacting the District Warehouse (ext 10248) to pick-up the boxes. CompEd will take only scoreable boxes with them.
- Keep accurate counts of all test booklets and answer sheets you are utilizing.
- Add any additional inventory received from District or another site to your inventory.
Liability of the Score Field
All site coordinators are responsible for ensuring that Box 3 on the answer sheet is properly coded. Particular attention should be given to the “R” code because it could affect the District’s liability. Only bubble in the “R” if you are absolutely certain the student has passed that exam and can provide evidence to the face (transcript or test result with a passing score on it)
Procedures for Large-Print and Braille Booklets, and Audio CD’s
Students who use the large-print or Braille booklets must have their answers transcribed to a regular answer document by a scribe who is an employee of the school district or a person assigned by a nonpublic, nonsectarian school to implement a student’s IEP. If a student taking a special test version writes his or her answers in the test booklet, the student’s answers must be transcribed to an answer document after the test.
There are special directions for the test examiner to use for large-print, Braille, and Audio CD. Refer to the Directions for Administration—Special Test Versions. Large-print and Braille test booklets and audio CDs are secure and must be accounted for at all times.
Scratch Paper
Please note that students are NOT allowed to use separate sheets of scratch paper for any portion of the exam. Students can mark in the test booklet and use the designated white space in the answer document as scratch paper.
Special Education Students
Beginning with the graduating class of 2010, students in Special Education programs are not required to pass the CAHSEE in order to receive a diploma. Students still have the right to take the exam if they wish.
