We have exciting news for our district. VVUHSD has entered into an agreement with the High Desert Community Foundation to establish an affiliate fund. The fund will be called the Victor Valley Make A Difference Fund. The mission of this fund is to support student development by encouraging community investment and involvement in helping raise student achievement and to Make a Difference in their lives.
The MAKE A DIFFERENCE fund is a fund designated to help teachers, classified personnel and students.
All staff, certificated and classified, can apply for mini grants to make purchases that directly affect students at their sites.
Grants are available in the fall of each school year for up to a maximum of $ 400.00 per teacher. In the 2010-11 school year we gave out 21 mini grants totaling over $6,000.00.
Students are able to apply in the spring of their senior year for a MAKE A DIFFERENCE scholarship. Last year we gave out three $250.00 scholarships.
This account is fully funded by our district employees and contributions from our vendors. Employees can designate any dollar amount that they would like to have withheld from their paycheck to contribute to the MAKE A DIFFERENCE fund.
Employees that complete the attached voluntary deduction form and turn it in you will receive a MAKE A DIFFERENCE lapel pin to show your support.
